AMERICAN ANGLER'S CLUB NEWSLETTER PAGE 4

One on One continued
was going to change my life today.  With the Clinton gently pushing our Kimory into position, I eased out my sinking flyline to the backing knot.  I was a bit anxious as I examined the knot knowing that this may be the weakest point of my tackle.  Then all of sudden the rod lunged down and the knot in question passed throught the tip top of my rod into the abiss.  I grasp the handle just quick enough to save it from leaving the boat entirely on it's own.  By the time I shut down the Clinton and positioned myself for the battle I was already deep into my flyline backing.  The fish fought gallantly for the longest time.  We battled back and forth as the hours went by.  More than once I was fooled into thinking I had the upper hand.  As darkness began to overtake the daylight the battle raged on.  But finally through determined effort and concentration I had the beauty to the side of the Kimory.  I looked into my brothers terrified eyes and commanded net him now!  Gary  moved with grace and speed to subdue the king of the trout.  It's funny how I could see grandpa Walt's smile and hand guiding his grandsons hand to the perfect net placement.
AAC Wow Al that was some story
Al We knew as Gary raised the mighty warrior into the boat there was now doubt who would be dangling the Big Meat this year.  So I bonked his head, removed my wolley buggar treble special  and put him in the fish box!
AAC Treble special?
Al Did I say Treble Special, I ment barbless wolley buggar.
AAC Anything else that you would like to say Al?
Al Just to thank my Dad, for making me his favorite son, it nearly brought a tear to my eye to see  him proudly stand dockside as I hoisted out my days catch.  His proud stance  was all the recognition I needed..
AAC Well Al where will you mount your new pin?
Al I'm not sure yet, I'm thinking about piercing my ear,  that would be something for them to talk about around the water cooler at Anixter.
AAC And what do you have to say about the "POWERBAIT CONTROVERSY"?
Al That is for hemoridoidal treastment only you dare to believe those lying bastards at camp!!! So what if I had a little on my finger!!!!
AAC   Isn't it true that Berkley was secretly offering a new 5hp Tohotsu or Nissan outboard  motor  for the biggest fish of the 1999 GGA for the AAC?
Al All lies from the envious bastards.
AAC is that your final word Al?
Al No, this is, Interview over!
AAC  The investigation will continued......We will get to the bottom of this.  We promise!

   THE COOK'S CORNER
I can't wait to get back in the kitchen!  That old wood stove did a fine job in keeping the boys fat and happy.  It's been so many years since I have been able to adjust the dampers and drafts of a wood stove, and they still are one of the finest cooking appliances ever made.  I had forgotten what a joy it is to cook with wood. The aroma of alder and stew filling the kitchen brings everyone back to the cabin early.  The boys sure seemed to hang around alot to see how things were done.  This year I have been playing with the idea of a new stew receipe among other things.  We will be a bit more creative this year with our menue now that I have assesed the facilities of the kitchen personally.  In the next newsletter I will share with you the menue plans for our Millenium trip of 2000.  We might even have a surprise for you in on the menue.
